The parents/caregivers are encouraged to take home any work completed and talk to the staff about their child's day. If this is not an appropriate time, an appointment can be made.
Throughout the programme we have a strong emphasis on numeracy and literacy. This is incorporated into the daily programme through:
- puzzles – problem-solving;
- matching stickers 1-1;
- counting objects, and counting in order;
- matching numbers;
- matching colours;
- recognising numbers;
- identifying their name;
- developing their fine motor skills by cutting and using a writing tool;
- number songs and finger rhymes;
- reading and listening to stories, and enjoying stories.
The opportunities for the children to learn will be available for them. Every child develops at their own pace, and therefore the staff plan the work carefully, to incorporate all the different levels and abilities into the programme.
20 ECE hours
We offer the 20 ECE hours. In order for us to maintain our current standard, quality of education, resourcing and level of staffing, parents are asked to contribute $2.50 per hour, that is $7.50 per session (Quality Education and Resourcing Fee). For those parents who qualify for a child-care subsidy from WINZ, you may choose to keep that going or opt for the 20 ECE hours.
Routines
Toilet Training:
We cater for both children in nappies and children who are at the toilet-training stage. The kindy has small toilets which are suited to the children of this age group.
If your child is'in training' to use the toilet, this is not a problem, as staff will assist your child with this.
