Our dedicated qualified early childhood teachers provide rich learning programmes with weekly themes guided by the children’s own interests.
Our teachers work with children individually, in small groups and all together to identify personal interests, strengths and the progress they’re each making. We monitor progress in development of their skills, independence and confidence. We always share this with parents who are encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning.
Semi-structured
Our semi-structured programmes allow children the freedom to play and explore yet provide routines and structured teaching that ensures they’re always learning. Each centre’s programme is built around the developmental age and the individual routines of the children (e.g. sleep times) and typically includes:
- Group mat times
- Planned and spontaneous activities
- Whole group, small group and individual activities
- Active and quiet activities
- Inside, outside and meal times
Focus on literacy and numeracy
Programmes in all our centres follow the New Zealand early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki with our own particular emphasis on literacy and numeracy, which prepares children for a smooth transition through each of our centres and onwards to school.
All children have their own personal learning portfolios which are a physical record of their progress at Kindyz and a personal and lasting memento of all their fabulous work.
Extracurricular
We have frequent visits from top quality educational, cultural and entertaining guests and we have regular excursions locally and to destinations of special interest. There’s always something fun and interesting happening at Kindyz of Queenwood!
